Etsy Market Research Tool: Check a Market Before You Make the Product

Pick a category and in 30 to 60 seconds see who sells there, whether new shops still get in, and what buyers complain about. Read from 100 real shops and a year of their reviews, not estimated.

The problem

The expensive mistake is finding out after you've made the product: the market is all shops that opened five years ago, or buyers are complaining about the exact flaw your product has too. A minute of looking before you make it is cheaper than remaking it.

One report: how many shops we found, review momentum, shop age, the top shops with real total sales, and the three things buyers complain about.

What you get

Know who sells here and how big they are.

The top shops in the market, one per row: year opened, total sales, review count. Sales are the real figure from the Etsy shop page, not an estimate.

Know whether new shops still get in.

Shop age split: how many opened in the last year, how many are three years or older. A market that's all old shops is one to think twice about.

Know whether the market is still moving.

Review momentum over the past year shows whether it's growing or fading.

Know what buyers are angry about. That's your opening.

We read the low-star reviews across these shops, group them into themes, quote buyers word for word, and give you one line per theme on where the gap is. No other tool has this panel.

An Etsy market research tool that counts, not estimates

Year opened, total sales and review counts are read from Etsy's public pages; click through and check them. We don't print revenue: that would mean multiplying sales we can't date by a price we'd have to guess, which is an estimate dressed up as a measurement.

How it works

  1. Pick a category or type a market phrase.
  2. Wait 30 to 60 seconds. You can leave the page; it keeps running and picks up when you're back.
  3. Open a listing straight from the report (the Generator starts with this market's phrase loaded), or go a level down and research one phrase for adoption, price band and competition.

FAQ

Is it free?

The Free plan includes 20 credits a month and a market report costs 5, so you get 4 free reports a month. Reopening the same report doesn't charge again.

How much does it read?

Up to 100 shops and each shop's reviews from the past year, up to 400 per shop. The page shows the date read and how many shops it actually reached.

Why no revenue or search volume?

Etsy publishes neither. Revenue would need a guessed price, search volume would need a model. We print neither.

How are the complaint themes made?

We pull reviews of three stars or less from these shops, from the past year, and group them by topic with a language model. The themes and percentages are the model's reading of real text; the quotes are copied verbatim, never rewritten. Themes with too few reviews behind them are dropped rather than shown thin.

Is this a product-picking tool?

No. It validates a market before you commit: who sells there, whether new shops get in, what buyers complain about. What you make is still your call.
