See it in action

Watch how ListingSafe catches trademark violations in seconds — before Etsy does.

Check if your Etsy shop name is trademarked

Thinking of a name for your shop — or wondering if your current shop or store name is safe? Paste it into the scanner: it checks live USPTO records, including the exact class a word is registered in, so a name that's only trademarked for candles won't scare you off a jewelry shop. Same free scans, no card needed.

Is that a copy, or did you both buy the same clipart?

We check your listings on the schedule you set and sort out what turns up — so you're not squinting at someone else's product photo at midnight trying to work out whether you're allowed to be annoyed.

It watches, so you don't have to.

Pick the listings you care about. On the schedule you set, we run a reverse image search on their photos and check what comes back. Results show up right on your Etsy product page — no extra tab to remember, no going looking.

Shown on Etsy by the ListingSafe Chrome extension — install it first, or read the same results in Copycat Watch.

Most of what turns up isn't a copy.

That's the annoying part. Print-on-demand shops using the same licensed graphic. Sellers listing the same vintage piece. Shops selling the same kind of thing that just looks close in a thumbnail. We pull those apart so you can spend your time on the one that actually matters.

Selling secondhand instead of designing? Same scan, different job.

If you resell rather than draw, this becomes Market Watch — who else has the same item, and what they're asking. Nobody's accusing anyone of anything. You just want to know the going rate.

And if one of them does turn out to be a copy, you'll have the platform's actual reporting page and a DMCA notice with everything the law requires already in it. We don't send it for you, and nobody can promise you how it'll go — but you won't be starting from a blank page.

Frequently Asked Questions

The free plan gives you 20 credits per calendar month at no cost — no credit card required. A listing check costs 1 credit and runs one listing's title, description, and tags against our trademark database and Etsy policy rules, and returns the same flagged issues that paid users see. Free users can also use batch CSV upload (export your listings from Etsy Shop Manager and upload the CSV) and download results as a CSV report. Every feature is available on every plan, including free — USPTO live lookup, AI image scan and the appeal letter generator all included. What the paid plans add is volume: a bigger monthly credit pot and a higher image-check allowance (50 a month on Basic, 1,000 on Pro), plus priority support on Pro. The credit counter resets on the first of each month; unused credits don't roll over. For most sellers doing an initial shop audit, the free tier covers the highest-risk portion — trademark problems typically concentrate in the top 15–20 active listings by views, which is where enforcement actions start.
Manual checking means searching the USPTO trademark database, reading Etsy's House Rules and Prohibited Items policy, and remembering which generic-sounding words are actually registered trademarks — Frisbee, Chapstick, Crockpot, Onesie, Velcro, Band-Aid, Popsicle, and dozens more. You'd repeat this for every listing. ListingSafe scans a title, description, and tags against 460+ trademarked terms, flagged phrases (such as "Boy Mom" or "Hot Girl Walk"), and Etsy's prohibited categories in one pass, then returns each issue with a specific fix recommendation. Suspect brand-like words are also cross-checked against the live USPTO database for a definitive answer, on every plan. Manual searches also miss phrase-level trademarks entirely — "Boy Mom" and "Hot Girl Walk" don't appear in the USPTO phrase index but are actively enforced on Etsy and regularly trigger IP complaints that result in listing removal.
Yes. All plans, including the free tier, support uploading the listings CSV exported from your Etsy Shop Manager (Settings → Options → Download Data → Download CSV) to scan multiple listings in one batch. Each CSV row costs 1 credit, the same as a single check, so free users can check up to 20 listings per month, Basic users up to 500, and Pro users up to 10,000. After the batch finishes, you can download a CSV compliance report listing every flagged issue, its severity (Critical or Warning), the specific term that triggered it, and the recommendation to fix it — so you can prioritize which listings to revise first. Every plan can also download the report as a PDF. A typical Etsy shop with 50 active listings processes in under two minutes — from exporting the CSV out of Shop Manager to downloading the completed compliance report with flagged issues sorted by severity.
Listing data is sent to Google's Gemini AI models for compliance analysis. We keep the listing text you scanned alongside its result so we can audit our own accuracy and fix wrong verdicts, and cached results expire after 7 days. Scan results live temporarily in your browser's localStorage so you can revisit them. Your listing titles, descriptions, tags, and images are never sold or shared with third parties, and are not used to train AI models. You choose how listings reach us: paste them in, upload a CSV you exported yourself, or connect your Etsy shop — the Etsy connection is optional and read-only (listings access only), so we never touch your password, orders, or payment data. You can confirm this in your browser's network tab during a scan — no listing content is sent anywhere except to our backend, which forwards it to Gemini.
Each flagged issue comes with a specific recommendation on how to fix it. For trademark violations (e.g. "Disney mug" or using "Frisbee" instead of "flying disc"), you'll be told to remove the trademarked term and given a generic replacement. For policy issues (e.g. unsupported health claims, banned categories like recalled items or live plants to certain regions), you'll be told what wording to drop or what category to avoid. On every plan, including free, the Safe rewrite feature can automatically generate a compliant version of your title or description. The goal is to catch and fix issues before Etsy's automated moderation flags or removes the listing. For example, a listing titled "Stanley-style tumbler" would be flagged for the Stanley trademark, with the recommendation to rewrite it as "stainless steel tumbler, 40 oz" or "double-wall insulated tumbler" instead.
Yes. The Appeal Letter Generator helps you write a professional response when Etsy has already removed a listing or sent you a policy violation notice. It supports three scenarios: DMCA takedown notices (from brand rights holders), trademark infringement complaints, and Etsy Creativity Standards / IP violations. You describe what happened — what listing was removed, what notice you received, what your side of the story is — and it generates a ready-to-send appeal letter that addresses the specific policy and references the correct Etsy process. It is available on every plan, including free; working out which notice you received is free, and each letter it writes costs 1 credit from your monthly credits. The generator asks for the specifics of your case — item type, the exact notice you received, and your explanation — so the output is tailored to your situation rather than a generic template Etsy's review team recognizes and dismisses.
ListingSafe cross-checks brand-like words in your listing against the official US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) trademark database in real time — confirming whether a term is an active, registered trademark, who owns it, and what goods or services it covers. This catches lesser-known trademarks the AI alone might be uncertain about (newer brand registrations, niche category marks, registered phrases) and gives you a definitive answer before you publish. USPTO lookup runs on single and batch scans on every plan, including free. For example, scanning a listing that includes "Stanley" returns an active registration in Class 21 (kitchen utensils and containers) owned by PMI Worldwide — confirming the risk before you publish rather than after Etsy removes the listing.
Copycat Watch runs a reverse image search on the listing photos you pick, on the schedule you set, and sorts what comes back: shops using the same licensed print-on-demand graphic, sellers listing the same vintage piece, and shops selling the same kind of thing that just looks close in a thumbnail — most of what turns up is one of those, not a copy. Results show up on your Etsy product page — that part needs the free ListingSafe Chrome extension — and in a summary email, which works without it. If one of them does turn out to be a copy, you get that marketplace's actual reporting page — Etsy, Amazon, eBay VeRO, Walmart and others — and a DMCA notice that already contains the six elements 17 U.S.C. §512(c)(3)(A) requires, so what you send counts as a notice and goes to the right place. We don't send it for you, and nobody can promise you how it will go. Copycat Watch is available on every plan, including free; each image check draws from the same monthly quota, so how many you can run depends on your plan.
Your ListingSafe subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel. You can cancel anytime from the Settings page in the app — you'll keep access until the end of your billing period. Refunds are handled by Paddle, our Merchant of Record.
