Etsy Keyword Research Tool: See What Top Sellers Actually Use

Type a phrase and see which tags the best-ranking sellers use, how crowded the market is, and what they charge. Real numbers from Etsy, not estimates.

The problem

You changed your tags and have no idea whether it helped. Etsy doesn't publish search volume, so the "24,000 searches a month" other tools print is a model's guess. What you actually want to know is simpler: what words do the sellers who are winning use, and am I using them?

Etsy keyword research tool results for soy candle

Results for soy candle: who uses the phrase, which spelling wins, how crowded the market is, the price band, and every tag the top 48 listings use.

What you get

Know whether to use the phrase at all.

How many of the top-ranking sellers put it in their tags, and how many carry it in the title. If they all use it, so should you. If nobody does, don't waste a slot.

Know which spelling to use.

soy candle, soy candles, hand poured soy candle, side by side: which version more of the winning listings actually use.

Know how crowded the market is.

How many listings are competing for the phrase right now. Check that before you position a new product.

Know what to charge.

Where the top listings' prices fall, so you don't have to guess.

See the winners' whole tag list.

Every tag the top 48 listings use, ranked by how many of them use it, with the number of competing listings next to each one. Open a row to see which listings. That's not one competitor at a time; it's 48 at once, and you pick what to learn from.

Trademarked tags are flagged in the list.

If a tag on the list is a trademarked word, it carries a warning with a link to the record, right next to its count. A tag can be the most-used one and still be the one that gets listings removed; you see both facts before you copy it.

There's also a demand signal, review growth across those listings, which arrives a few seconds later.

An Etsy keyword research tool that counts, not estimates

Every number comes from the listings Etsy ranked first on the day you searched: which listings, which tags, how many compete, what they charge. You can check each one on Etsy yourself. We don't print estimated monthly searches, because Etsy doesn't publish that number and anything printed would be made up.

How it works

  1. Type a phrase a buyer would search.
  2. In a few seconds, see who uses it, which spelling, how crowded, what they charge, and the winners' tags.
  3. Tick the phrases you want. Send them to the Listing Generator, which writes the title, tags and description around them and checks compliance as it writes. Or connect your shop (read-only) to see which phrases you're missing and which of your current tags none of the top listings use.

FAQ

How much can I do for free?

10 searches a day, with full results, and they don't use credits. Basic gives you 250 a day, Pro 1000.

Where do the numbers come from?

Etsy's public data: the 48 listings ranked first for your search on that day, their tags, prices and reviews. 48 is one page of Etsy search results. The page shows the date it was read.

Why is there no search volume?

Etsy doesn't publish it, and we don't invent it. What you get instead is whether the winners use the phrase, how crowded the market is and the price band, all of which you can verify on Etsy.

Do I need to connect my Etsy shop?

No. Type a phrase and go. Connecting is only for checking your own listings against the phrases, and it's read-only.

What if the most-used tag is a trademarked word?

It stays on the list with its count and a warning; we never hide a tag. Whether to use it is your call, but a lot of shops using a brand word is exactly how that word ends up on the takedown radar, so the count isn't a safety signal.

How is this different from eRank or EverBee?

Their first number is estimated search volume. Ours is what the top listings actually use, counted, with trademarked words flagged in the same list, so before you copy a tag you know which words could get a listing removed.
