eRank Alternative (Free) for Etsy Sellers: 2026 Comparison
Compare eRank and ListingSafe: what each does, what each costs, and what you lose if you switch. Free plan, no card needed. Prices checked October 2026.
ListingSafe is a free eRank alternative for one set of jobs: checking and rewriting a listing, seeing the real tags on any listing, and seeing what any shop sells. It does not replace eRank's keyword data, rank checker or trend tools. This page shows which is which, with prices from each site's own pricing page, so you can decide in a few minutes.
I build ListingSafe, so read this with that in mind. I've tried to write it the way I'd want a comparison written if I were the one paying: what each tool actually does, and what you give up if you move.

What ListingSafe can take over from eRank
Check and rewrite a listing
Paste a listing into the Etsy listing optimizer and one scan gives you a search score, a rewritten title, 13 tags and a description, with the score shown before and after so you can see what changed. Every change comes with the reason it was made. If you connect your shop, you can run it on every listing at once.
This is the job eRank's Health Check and AI Listing Helper cover. The difference is that ListingSafe runs the trademark check in the same scan, which matters for the next section.
See the real tags on any listing
Etsy doesn't show a listing's tags on the page. The ListingSafe extension for Chrome and Edge opens a side panel on any Etsy listing and shows the tags that listing really uses, read from Etsy's own listing data. Brand names are marked red, so you can copy the rest without picking up someone else's trademark.
See what any shop is selling
Paste a shop into the Etsy shop analyzer and you get Etsy's own sales count for the shop, its listings sorted by estimated monthly sales, the tags behind each one, and what its buyers complain about in reviews of three stars or less. The monthly figures are estimates, labelled as estimates, with the sums printed so you can check them. You can also watch a shop for free: it checks the sales count every day and emails you what actually sold.
If you're writing new listings rather than fixing old ones, the Etsy listing generator writes the title, 13 tags and description around your keywords and runs the same check first.
What eRank's feature list doesn't mention
eRank's features page lists keyword tools, rank checking, shop and competitor research, a health check and an AI listing helper. It doesn't list a trademark check.
That gap is the reason ListingSafe exists. A brand name in a title or tag is a common reason Etsy takes a listing down, and plenty of them don't look like brands. Koozie, onesie and velcro are all registered. Keyword tools will happily suggest them, because they're real searches.
ListingSafe flags those words, explains why, and shows the USPTO record where one exists: the holder, the registration number and the status. The rewrite takes the flagged word out before it suggests anything, so an SEO rewrite never puts a brand name back in. In one real scan of a Grinch-themed listing, "Grinch" came out, the replacement read "festive holiday", and the search score went from E to B. More on which words in your tags get listings removed.
What Etsy itself says about tags and titles
Before you pick a tool, it helps to know what Etsy asks of a listing, because eRank and ListingSafe both work on the same few fields. Here is what Etsy's own guidance says about each one, and where each tool fits.
Tags: 13 phrases, and attributes count too
Every listing gets up to 13 tags, and Etsy's help page on tags treats them as one of the main ways a listing gets found. Etsy's Keywords 101 guide adds two points that are easy to miss: each attribute you set after choosing a category "acts like a tag" for search, and you don't need a tag that exactly repeats an attribute you've already set. If your listing already has blue as its colour attribute, a tag that only says "blue" is a slot you could use for something else.
Where the tools fit: eRank helps you choose words using its keyword data. ListingSafe works on the 13 you end up with. The rewrite gives you a full set of 13, the check marks any brand names among them, and the extension shows you the tags that other listings in your niche really use, so you can see which phrases sellers there have settled on.
Titles: shorter, and about what the item is
In April 2026 Etsy published new guidance for listing titles. It asks for shorter titles that say what the item is, with subjective words like "beautiful" or "perfect" moved to tags or attributes, and it says holidays, occasions or recipient types belong in the title only when they're essential to the item, like "Halloween costume." Etsy also says its search now reads the whole listing, including the title, tags, attributes, description, first photo and even reviews. It suggests downloading a CSV of your listings first, so you can move keywords from your old titles into your tags.
That change matters for this comparison. The long, keyword-packed titles many sellers wrote a few years ago now work against the listing, and the words you take out of the title still have to go somewhere. ListingSafe's rewrite gives you the new title and the 13 tags in the same scan, so you can see where each word ended up and whether the search score moved.
Brand names: the part that costs more than a ranking
Etsy removes listings that use someone else's trademark, and repeated reports go further than one listing. Etsy's seller handbook says that it may close a seller's shop "in addition to all other shops the seller operates," and that opening a new shop to get around that leads to revoking "all Etsy account privileges (both buying and selling)." Etsy doesn't publish how many reports that takes.
This is why I'd run a trademark check even if you keep eRank for keyword research. A keyword tool ranks words by how often people search for them, and brand names are some of the most searched words there are. The tool is doing its job when it suggests one. The check is a separate job, and it's the one ListingSafe was built for.
A ten-minute way to try both
Both tools have a free plan, so you don't have to take my word for any of this. Here is a quick test using one of your own listings:
- Pick a listing that gets views but few sales, since that's usually where a better title and tags help most.
- Look up its main keyword in eRank's free plan (five lookups a day) and write down three to five phrases you'd consider using.
- Paste the same listing into the listing optimizer. You get two checks a day without an account. Note the score before and after, which words were flagged and why, and which of your eRank phrases turn up in the new title and tags.
- Open a listing that sells well in your niche with the ListingSafe extension and compare its tags with yours. Phrases that show up again and again across good sellers are worth a slot.
- Decide by the step that saved you time. If the keyword lookup was the useful part, stay with eRank. If the check and rewrite were, switch. If both were, use both.
What you lose if you switch
This is the part most comparison pages skip, so here it is plainly. If you leave eRank for ListingSafe, you lose:
- Keyword search data. eRank's Keyword Tool and Keyword Lists, and the search figures in its Tag Report.
- Rank checking. eRank's Rank Checker shows where your listings sit for a keyword.
- Trends. Trend Buzz and the monthly trend history.
- Shop statistics and calculators. Traffic Stats, the Sales Map, and the profit and ad calculators.
ListingSafe doesn't show search volume or search rank at all. Etsy doesn't give outside tools either number, so we don't print one.
Who should switch, who should stay, and who should use both
Switch if most of your time goes into writing and fixing listings, you've had a listing removed or you worry about it, or you mainly want to see what other shops sell and the tags they use.
Stay with eRank if you pick products and keywords by search volume, check your rank every week, or plan your listings around trend data. ListingSafe doesn't do those things.
Use both if you want keyword research and a pre-publish check. One way to split it: find your words in eRank, then run the listing through ListingSafe before it goes live. Both have a free plan, so trying the combination costs nothing.

FAQ
Is there a free eRank alternative? Yes. ListingSafe's free plan includes 20 credits a month, and a listing check uses one. You can also run 2 checks a day without an account, and no card is needed. It covers listing checks, rewrites, tags and shop analysis, not keyword volume.
Can ListingSafe replace eRank? For part of the work. It can take over checking and rewriting listings, seeing the tags on any listing, and seeing what a shop sells. It doesn't replace keyword data, rank checking or trends.
Does ListingSafe show keyword search volume? No. Etsy doesn't give outside tools search volume or search rank, so ListingSafe doesn't show either.
Which one checks for trademarks? ListingSafe checks every listing for trademarked words and policy problems on every plan, and shows the USPTO record when a flagged word is a registered mark. eRank's features page doesn't list a trademark check.
How much does ListingSafe cost? Free, then Basic at $9 a month for 500 credits and Pro at $29 a month for 10,000 credits. Paying yearly saves 25%.
Can I use eRank and ListingSafe together? Yes. One way to split it is eRank for keyword research and ListingSafe to check and rewrite the listing before you publish.
Is eRank's free plan enough? It depends how many listings you work on. eRank's free plan gives 5 keyword lookups, 5 listing audits and 1 AI listing helper a day.
